Wednesday Word: Comfort

Let’s face it, when you offer comfort day in and day out, you need to replenish, renew, and revitalize your supply. Begin some comfort rituals on your way home—perhaps listen to some favorite music, drink some cool water, and munch a healthy snack. Are your favorite comfy slippers waiting by the door of your home? Try a little aromatherapy or wash away your stressors with a warm-water face bath. Are there comfort foods such as macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, or warm cookies that you deserve every now and then? Some days, I wish I could just wrap myself in a blanket, sip honeyed tea, and read a good book as I rock on the front porch. Where do you go for comfort?

In loving memory of Gryphon House author Leanne Grace, MEd, we are sharing pieces of her inspirational writing every Wednesday. Leanne was the director of professional development at Hildebrandt Learning Centers and a lifelong advocate for early childhood education.  She inspired the early childhood community to prepare children as lifelong learners with her ability to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. One person can make a difference, and Leanne did just that. She will be sorely missed.
