Wednesday Word: Clutter

Out of clutter, find simplicity. —Albert Einstein

The word clutter usually refers to all that stuff that has accumulated. Our attention is called to it when clutter gets in our way and we have to move it or work around it. Usually we “do something” about it when we have time, when it’s causing stress, or when we needed something that’s lost in it. What about the clutter in the way of our mindfulness to tasks and interactions? How often do we engage in hellos but find our thoughts cluttered with planning ahead or looking over a shoulder rather than giving our full attention and presence to the person in front of us. Today, do something about the clutter you bring to interactions, and practice removing it to engage in more meaningful relationships.

In loving memory of Gryphon House author Leanne Grace, MEd, we are sharing pieces of her inspirational writing every Wednesday. Leanne was the director of professional development at Hildebrandt Learning Centers and a lifelong advocate for early childhood education.  She inspired the early childhood community to prepare children as lifelong learners with her ability to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. One person can make a difference, and Leanne did just that. She will be sorely missed.
