Wednesday Word: Adventure

Adventure

When asked to choose a song to begin circle time, Jakob bellowed, "’Born to Be Wild’!" Strumming an air guitar, he sang the entire song with his whole heart and soul. I smiled my best teacher smile and, when he finished, asked if he could choose a school song. In retrospect, I needed to embrace his passion. After all, isn't that what we're all about—preparing children for the highway of life? I wish them adventure and the ability to handle whatever comes their way. Every day is an adventure! Look for it. Embrace it. Live it.

In loving memory of Gryphon House author Leanne Grace, MEd, we are sharing pieces of her inspirational writing every Wednesday.

Leanne was the director of professional development at Hildebrandt Learning Centers and a lifelong advocate for early childhood education.  She inspired the early childhood community to prepare children as lifelong learners with her ability to find the extraordinary in the ordinary. One person can make a difference, and Leanne did just that. She will be sorely missed.
