Instructions

* Place items on the children's work tables. Be sure the tables are very clean.
What to Do
1. Practice counting to five with the children, then to 10. Explain the project for
the day.
2. Ask the children to wash their hands before beginning.
3. Give each child a napkin and a cup that contains about 20 of the goldfish
crackers.
4. Ask the children to count out five of the crackers and place them on the
napkin. Then ask them to add five more.
5. Challenge the children to count
to 10. Then they can eat the
crackers!
6. Repeat with more crackers, or focus
on specific numbers, such
as seven or eight.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
* Some children cannot eat the goldfish snacks, such as those sensitive to
gluten. If you have such a child in your classroom, ask the parent or caregiver
to provide an appropriate substitute.
