Instructions

* Precut large circles from brown paper and medium and small circles from
beige paper to provide a template for the children to create paw prints.
What to Do
1. Engage the children in a discussion about kittens. Ask the children, "Where do
baby kittens live?"
2. Show pictures of kittens. Introduce this art project by saying, "We are going to
make kitten paws and count the paws. We can make four paws each and then
we will count all the paws."
3. Show the children the templates of
the paws and invite the children to
cut out their own following the
templates. Also help them cut out
beige circles to put on the paws, so
they resemble paw pads.
4. Help the children glue the medium
and small circles on to each paw.
Let dry.
5. With the children, count the paws
they created.
Assessment
Consider the following:
* How well do the children cut out the kitten paws?
* Are the children able to count to four?
