Instructions

1. After reading Paws, Claws, Hands, and Feet with the children, talk about how
individual animals use their paws, claws, hands, and feet.
2. Ask the children to imitate the different animals. Challenge them to dig like a
squirrel, waddle and swim like a penguin, crawl like a turtle, stalk like a cat,
hop like a frog, jump like a kangaroo, flap wings like a bird, and so on.
3. Encourage the children to observe one another as they imitate these animals.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
* Consider having different children imitate the actions of different animals, and
then challenge the children to find the others who are imitating the same
animals that they are.
Assessment
Consider the following:
* Can the children name different animals?
* Can the children show you how the animals use their paws, claws, hands,
and feet?
* Can the children identify the animals in the book by name?
