Become A Gryphon House Author

If you have an idea for a book, we’d like to hear about it. At Gryphon House, our goal is to publish resources that address top current issues in early childhood and help teachers, administrators, teacher-educators, policymakers, caregivers, and parents enrich the lives of children from birth through age 8.

Our books are essential tools that are developmentally appropriate for the intended age group; are based on current research; and offer relevant, practical ideas, activities, and advice.

The staff at Gryphon House cares deeply about children and about teaching them appropriately and positively. We also recognize the tremendous responsibility early childhood educators and parents have to help children grow and achieve their best possible outcomes, and we are committed to supporting this effort. We believe anyone interested in supporting the development of young children should have the most up-to-date information at their disposal. Finally, we believe spending time with children is a valuable and fun thing to do. Our books reflect these beliefs.

Things to Consider Before Submitting a Proposal

Market

In light of the competition, is there a need for another book on your topic? What makes your book unique?

Other Important Issues

Have you led classes, workshops, or webinars on the topic? What is your background? Have you published other books, articles, or other materials? If so, please tell us. Include this information in your letter of inquiry, outlined below.

Submitting a Proposal

We prefer to receive a letter of inquiry and a proposal rather than an entire manuscript. That means you don’t have to wait until you’ve completed your book to send it to us. Your proposal should include:

  • The purpose of the book
  • The intended audience
  • A working table of contents
  • Introductory material
  • 20-40 sample pages of the actual book
  • Your résumé

In addition, please describe why educators, policymakers, or parents will want to buy it; how it is different from other similar books already published; and what qualifications you possess that make you the appropriate person to write the book.

Note: We do not publish children’s books. Please do not send a proposal or manuscript for a children’s book.
