Materials

miscellaneous boxes and containers to wrap

recycled or new wrapping paper (any holiday pattern)

tape

ribbons and stickers

Instructions

1. Prior to the day of this activity, ask children and parents to save suitable
boxes and wrapping paper and bring them in.
2. Tell the children that they are going to wrap their own boxes. Show one
child at a time how to measure the amount of wrapping paper needed.
Then, mark on the inside part of the paper where the child should cut it.
3. Help each child wrap his chosen box. Remember to let the child do as
many of the steps as possible by himself.
4. Encourage the children to decorate their boxes with ribbons or colorful
stickers.
5. Label the boxes for the children, if they want you to (for example, "Sam
Wrapped This Box" or "From Alex to Mommy").
