What to do
1. Invite the children to help roll out your favorite sugar cookie dough recipe.
2. Ask the children to take turns cutting out the dough with a flower-shaped cookie cutter and
placing the flowers on the baking sheet.
3. Bake the cookies.
4. As the cookies are baking, give the children clear plastic cups, tape, and markers, and help them
write "My Garden" on their cups (or do it for them).
5. Instruct each child to crumble up the Oreos until they look like soil in the cup.
6. Give each child four Gummi worms and tell them to place these in the dirt.
7. After the cookies have cooled, children ice them with tinted canned frosting.
8. Show the children how to insert a popsicle stick into two flower cookies and then shove the
other end of the stick into the cup of dirt.
9. Enjoy your worm garden work of art!
