Instructions

What to do
1. Place a piece of
construction
paper in the
box top.
2. Invite the children to dip
the marbles in the paint and place
them in the box top, on top of the construction
paper.
3. The children can take turns rolling the
marbles back and forth until they make
imprints on the paper.
4. Let the paint dry, then roll the painted construction
paper lengthwise into a tube (painted side out) and staple
or tape together.
5. Have the children attach different color streamers to one end of the tube using tape.
6. Punch two holes at the other end of the tube and tie the ends of a string to each hole.
7. Hang the windsocks outside of a classroom window on a dry but breezy day so the children
can watch the wind make the streamers move.
More to do
More art: Use various mediums to decorate the windsock (tissue paper, sponge paint, markers,
string paint). Cut various types of paper to use as streamers.
Science: Hang the windsock near a fan and talk about the movement of air and how it affects the
windsock.
