What to Do
1. Show the children the pictures of windows. Talk with the children about
various shapes of windows. Ask the children to identify some of the shapes.
2. Ask the children to draw pictures of windows. Encourage the children to draw
images of the windows in the classroom, the windows from their homes, or to
make drawings based on the images laid out before them. Some children
might want to make several drawings. Some might want to draw and color
frames or curtains, or even flowers on the windowsills.
3. Help the children write their names on their drawings. Challenge those
children who are able to try writing their names themselves.
4. When the children finish working, engage them in a conversation about their
drawings.
5. Display the papers on the wall for all to see. Keep the drawings up until the
end of the week. Encourage the children to show the pictures they drew to
their family.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Can the children identify the shapes of the classroom windows?
l Can the children describe the windows at their homes?
l Show the children pictures of various kinds of windows. Can they identify the
shapes?
