Materials

fan or windy day

clothesline and clothespins

tempera paint (thinned and watery)

paper

paintbrushes, spoons, or eyedroppers

Instructions

1. Tie a clothesline outside on a windy day. If doing the activity inside, hang
the clothesline near a fan.
2. To illustrate the effect of the wind, have each child place some paint on a
piece of paper. Take the papers outside or place in front of a fan set on
high.
3. Clip the papers to the clothesline and watch what happens to the paint.
4. Let dry. Discuss what happened to the paint.
