Objects from home for the children

Instructions

1. Before the first day of school, ask the parents if their child has a favorite pillow,
blanket, stuffed animal, or other item the child feels connected to. Ask them to send
in the item before school starts. (They can bring it in a bag the first day of school.)
2. Make sure the child's name is on the object.
3. At circle time, hold up one item at a time and ask, "Does this belong to
someone?" The children's faces will light up!
4. After you have handed out all the special items, tell the children they can
come back to it for a hug or comfort throughout the day.
5. You can send the items home that day or keep them for a week.
