Instructions

1. Collect a large number of buttons. Ask parents to donate old buttons.

2. Give each child a handful of assorted buttons. Ask them to sort the buttons. You may want to have them sort the buttons according to specific attributes (size, color, and so on), depending on the children’s ability. Older children can sort the buttons as desired.

3. When they are done, ask the children to talk about how they sorted the buttons (size, color, and so on).

4. Ask the children to think of a different way to sort the buttons
