Instructions

1. Read the books with the children.
2. Discuss the colors in the book and in the children's environment.
3. After reading the book, invite the children to play with the dolls.
4. Talk about the colors that are the same and colors that are different.
5. Invite them to dress the dolls with matching colors.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
l If using paper dolls and clothes, let the children glue their dressed dolls onto a
large piece of paper. Children may enjoy making entire families of dolls. If the
paper is large enough, encourage the children to draw things the family likes
to do together.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Observe as the children play with the dolls and clothes. Ask questions such as,
"What color are you putting on your doll?" "Are the colors on this doll the
same or different?" and so on.
l During transition times, ask the children, "Do your clothes have any colors
that match the clothes of other children in the class?"
