Brown paper

Markers

Scissors

Glue

White paper

Hole punch

String

Instructions

1. Trace animals or shapes onto pieces of felt and cut them out.
2. Gather the children into small groups or work with an individual child.
3. Ask the children to find specific felt pieces and place them on the flannel
board. For example, say, "Place the white dog on the flannel board," or "Find
the yellow circle and the blue triangle and put it on the board."

Add more shapes as the children become more aware of objects in their environment.
Math: Ask the children to count the number of shapes or animals on the flannel
board.
