Instructions

1. When you have an extra moment any time during the day, try the following
activity.
2. To help the children learn how to catch, gather them in a semicircle in front
of you. Tell them you want to grow vegetables for a tasty soup (or fruit for a
fruit salad, and so on).
3. Ask children what kinds of seeds they want to plant. The first child says the
name of a vegetable, at which point you throw him a ball or beanbag. The
child throws it back to you and says, "Here are the ___ seeds."
4. Move on to the next child, who throws the ball back to give you the seeds.
Continue until all of the children have given you seeds.
More to do Outdoors: Create a long obstacle course where the children need to wiggle
like a worm on the ground, climb the jungle gym like a spider, or walk on a
balance beam "bridge" to the garden.
