Bag or crate
Instructions
1. Many teachers have their own supply of storybooks. (I have slowly accumulated
my own books for my classroom library because the school's books always
seemed to be in use by another class when I needed them.) When you find
great books at the local library, write down the title, author, and ISBN number
and order it for your own classroom. (How many times have you needed a
certain book from the library and it was checked out?)
2. Keep books in crates to make them transportable. Separate the books by subject
(for example, put animal story books in one crate, seasonal and holiday
books in another, and so on).
3. Compile a book list for each crate, so you won't have to look through the
books to find what you want. Put this list into a plastic report cover that has
three prongs. In addition, save the list on your computer and print the pages
on three-hole punch paper or punch the holes after you print them (back-toback
to use less paper).
4. Suggested book lists: Animals (broken down into separate categories to pets,
farm, bears, water, and so on), Community Helpers, Dinosaurs, Earth,
Ecology, Nature, Space and Weather, Emotions and Feelings, Families and
Homes, Food and Nutrition, Friends, Fun Stories, Holidays, Me, Safety,
School, Seasons, Social Skills, Traditional Children's Stories and Fairy Tales,
Transportation, and Folktales and Multicultural. Use separate pages for individual
authors, such as Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle, and Berenstain Bears books.
