Instructions

1. Explain that numbers are used all the time: to tell time, to buy food, to make
food. Tell the children that they will make a salad and a pizza by identifying
numbers, counting the proper amount of ingredients, and following directions.
Safety Note: Before serving any food, especially peanut butter, check for
allergies.
2. Show the children the recipes and the ingredients on the tables. Read through
each recipe as a class. Invite the children to follow the recipes below:
Salad
1 paper plate
2 leaves of lettuce
3 chunks of cheese
4 cherry tomatoes
5 olives
6 sliced carrots
7 croutons
Directions
Tear the lettuce into pieces
on the plate.
Place 3 pieces of cheese, 4
tomatoes, 5 olives, 6
carrots, and 7 croutons
on top.
Pizza
1 English muffin (already sliced in half)
2 scoops of tomato sauce
4 green peppers
6 pieces of cheese
8 pieces of pepperoni
10 olives
Directions
Open up the muffin.
Spread 1 scoop of tomato sauce on each muffin.
Place 2 green peppers on each muffin.
Place 3 pieces of cheese on each muffin.
Place 4 pieces of pepperoni on each muffin.
Place 5 olives on each muffin.
Bake on a cookie sheet for 10 minutes in a 400 F
oven (adult-only step).
