Popsicle sticks1 plain cookie per childicingsmall edible pieces (M & Ms, raisins, sprinkles, and so on)

Instructions

1. Ask children questions about getting dressed in the morning. What do they put on first, second, and third?2. Read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Joffe Numeroff and ask the children to predict what might happen in the story as you read it.

3. Ask comprehension questions regarding the sequence of events in the story.

4. Explain that they are going to create their own mouse with the cookie.

5. In a small group, children frost their cookies using Popsicle sticks and decorate them as they wish to look like mice.

6. Ask the children to retell the story in the proper sequence.

7. Save the cookies for snack!
