gingerbread-type person cut from construction paper (one for each child)markers

Instructions

1. Ask the children to think about their faces and heads. "What features come in twos?" (eyes, ears, nostrils)2. Explain what a pair is. Now ask them to think of the rest of their body. "What else comes in pairs?"3. Give each child an outline of a person. Ask them to draw facial features on their outlines.

4. Ask them what articles go on various body pairs, such as glasses on eyes, earphones on ears, and so on.

5. Discuss pair coverings for arms (elbow pads), feet (socks, shoes, boots, skates, and so on), legs (pants, shorts, knee pads), and hands (gloves, mittens).

6. Invite the children to draw clothing and accessories on their outlines.
