Instructions
1. Read Seven Blind Mice by Ed Young. In this story, the seven mice try to figure out what creature is at their pond. Each mouse provides a different opinion, until the seventh mouse puts all the pieces together.
2. Prepare the following shapes beforehand, or provide a drawing of the elephant for children to color or paste in the shapes:* 1 large rectangle for the body* 4 long, narrow rectangles for legs* 1 long, narrow oval for the trunk* 1 large circle for the head* 1 large triangle for the ears* 1 short, narrow rectangle for the tail3. Using the geometric shapes or a coloring/pasting guide sheet, discuss the shapes (circle, rectangle, triangle, and oval).
4. Invite the children to guess which shapes will be used for which parts.
5. Color or make the elephant with the children.
