Instructions
1. At the end of circle or group time, to help the children transition to the next
activity, ask one child at a time to start describing an imaginary creature, one
feature at a time.
2. Encourage the use of descriptive words. For example, long curly hair, big
buggy eyes, small pointed ears, crooked stumpy legs, and missing teeth.
3. Each child has a piece of drawing paper and adds to their creature as each
child shares her suggestion. Remember: NO PEEKING! It will be great fun to
see the variety of creatures created.
4. As each child shows her creature, dismiss her to the next area.
More to do Literacy: To focus on the written word, write down each of the descriptive
features. Read all of the descriptive words after the drawings are complete and
display them for all to see and enjoy.
