What to do
1. Assign one or several children sections of the following poem to recite and act out (actions are in parentheses).
2. The items in the brackets could be worn by the children to illustrate their parts, if desired.
3. The last two lines should be said and acted by everyone.
First there comes a sleepy breeze (puff a breath of air)
It gently moves the dangling leaves. (sway back and forth) [leaves or trees]
Dark clouds bounce along their way (bounce in place) [gray clouds]
They turn the sky from bright to gray. (hand above eyebrows to "peer" into the dark) [a piece of paper, half yellow and half gray]
The warm, soft rain falls down so (reach hands up, bring down slowly in front, wiggling fingers) [raindrops]
It helps the new green grass to grow. (bring hands back overhead) [grass]
At last the hot sun rises high (hands over head, reach up on tiptoes) [sun]
It brightens up the clear blue sky. (bring arms out to sides, then down) [blue sky/sun]
Since it's such a sunny day (big smile)
I think I'll run around and play! (run in place)
