1. Large paintbrushes
2. Roller brushes with paint trays
3. Clean, empty paint cans
4. Painter's caps
5. Water

1. Take the above materials outdoors and encourage the children to paint the fence, tables, buildings, sidewalks, and so on.

1. This activity is intended to promote reading and sharing books at home with
parents and then sharing the books with the class.
2. Send home a sheet like the one on the next page so parents can list the books
they read to their children.
3. Set aside time once a week to have a Book Club.
4. Each week, ask the children to bring in a book from home with a certain theme.

5. Before the Book Club meets, place carpet squares on the floor for the children
to sit on.
6. When children arrive on the designated day, divide them into pairs to read or
look at their books with a "book buddy."
7. Plan an art project and a snack that relates to the theme.
8. At the end of each Book Club, read one of the books to the children. Discuss
the theme as well as the author and illustrator.
