sturdy number cards 1 to 10large chart paper with the words to the song

Instructions

1. Invite the children to sing the following song to the tune of "I've Been Working on the Railroad."I am always counting something,Counting all day long.One, two, three, four, five, I'm counting,It's the reason for my song.Next, I'm counting six and seven;Then eight and nine belong...You know what is coming next: it's ten!And that ends my song.

2. Choose 10 children to sit in a row, facing the rest of the children.

3. Give each child a number card.

4. Ask them to listen for their number in the song. When they hear it, they should jump up and hold the number card high over their heads.
