Instructions

1. Any time you have a few extra moments during the day, talk to the children
about how they feel when someone pushes, hits, or says something mean to
them.
2. Tell the children that when this happens, the first thing they can do is stop,
hold up their hand like a stop sign, and say, "Stop!" Demonstrate how to do
this.
3. Hold your hand as a sign for "Stop!" and teach the following song to the tune
of "If You're Happy and You Know It."
If somebody _________, tell them "stop."
If somebody _________, tell them "stop."
If you want to be a friend,
Then being mean should end.
If somebody _________, tell them "stop."
4. Verse options include if someone pushes you, hits you, says mean words, or
any other bothersome or troublesome behavior.
5. Talk about other situations that might arise, such as on the bus or school van,
or at home.
