Instructions
1. Read The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash to the children.
2. Explain to the children that they are going to make their own snakes. Show
the children how to crumple a pile of newspaper or copy paper. Talk about
how "fat" their snake is going to grow.
3. Beforehand, cut off the leg sections of a few pairs of pantyhose. Show the
children how to stuff the crumpled paper into the leg section of the
pantyhose.
4. When the children finish stuffing their pantyhose, tie the ends for them.
5. Show the children how to glue ribbon or felt scraps on the snake to make a
tongue and small pompoms or squiggle eyes to make eyes.
6. Allow the glue to dry.
7. Be sure to make your own snake to add to your props when reading the
story.
