Instructions

What to do
1. Cut some paper plates in half.
2. Place a half plate upside down on a whole
plate, and punch holes about 1" (3 cm)
apart around the rims.
3. Wrap one end of each yarn length with
masking tape, to form a "needle."
4. Using their yarn, have the children lace the
two plate pieces together, leaving about
12" (30 cm) of yarn free at each end.
5. Tie the loose ends in a bow in the middle of
the plate.
6. Print each child's name on the upper half of
a holder.
7. Let the children decorate the holders with markers and stickers.
8. Hang the holders up on a bulletin board.
9. Encourage the children to deliver their Valentine cards to the appropriate holder.
10. When Valentine's Day is over, the children can take their cards home in their holders by folding
over the top halves and tucking them into the bottom. They can use the yarn as handles.
More to do
Language: Set up a table with paper, scissors, and markers, and encourage the children to make
