Instructions
1. Have the children hold both their hands up in front of them, extending
their first two fingers, while holding down the other two with their
thumbs. This makes the shape of a rabbit's head.
2. Encourage the children to recite the following rhyme, and make the
appropriate corresponding hand movements.
Two little rabbits sitting on a bank. (hold up both hands, two fingers for ears)
One named Sally (left hand "rabbit" bows at its name)
And one named Frank. (right hand "rabbit" bows at its name)
Jump down, Sally! (put left hand behind back)
Jump down, Frank! (put right hand behind back)
No little rabbits sitting on a bank. (shake head sadly)
Jump back, Sally! (left hand comes out from behind back)
Jump back, Frank! (right hand comes out from behind back)
Two little rabbits sitting on a bank. (happy smile)
More to do Draw a rabbit face on the backs of the children's hands with non-allergenic
face paints, especially for parents to see.
Literacy: Explain to children that in this song, a bank isn't a place to get
money, but a grassy mound where rabbits feed and play.
Science: Talk about rabbit burrows and warrens and how rabbits live.
Explain the difference between rabbits and hares.
