Masking tape
Small bowls or plates in a variety of colors, two of each color
Variety of items to pick up that match the tong sizes, such as wooden cubes,
cotton balls, sunflower seeds, grapes, and so on
Different size tongs, such as tongs to pick up ice cubes and tongs to pick up corn
(Montessori catalogs are a good source for unique tongs)

Instructions
1. Help the children measure 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup cinnamon and mix them
together in a bowl.
2. Give each child a piece of bread. Demonstrate how to spread butter on it.
3. Encourage the children to sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon mixture on top of
the butter, until the surface of the bread is thinly covered.
4. Place the bread on a cookie sheet covered with foil or wax paper. Bake in the
oven (adult only) for about 10 minutes or until bubbly (adult only).
5. Let them cool away from the children. Eat them when cool.
