Instructions
1. Help the children wash their hands prior to handling food.
2. While one adult is helping with hand washing, another adult can set up
the blender.
Safety Note: Keep the blender out of reach until it is time to use it.
Closely supervise the children when they are using the blender.
3. Gather the children around the table and ask them who would like to
help make a shake. Give each child a turn pouring the mix and juice into
the blender and putting the lid on the blender. After doing so, have
them take turns pushing the button on the blender.
4. Talk about the activity and emphasize key words ("pour," "in," "on," and
"off") while facilitating it.
5. When finished blending, let the children take turns pouring the shake
into cups.
6. Drinking the shakes gives the children an opportunity to experience
food that has a different texture and gives them practice using a straw.
