Instructions
1. This purposeful activity gives children something to do with their hands, and
can be very peaceful and centering. Children can work on it whenever they
are waiting for a new activity or for others to finish.
2. Show the child how to sand something, and then always have sandpaper
and a purposeful sanding project available.
3. After weeks of making the wood smooth, put some mineral oil on a cloth
and let the children rub it into their project.
4. Use the finished pieces in the classroom so the children see their hard work
put to good use.
5. You can use any item, such as a table or chair, for a whole-group activity.
