Pictures of animals who make their homes in a tree: bird (nest), spider (web), bee (hive), squirrel (hole), caterpillar (cocoon), insect (under the bark), and so on
Oak tag
Clear contact paper or laminate
Felt
Flannel board
Instructions
1. Glue animal pictures onto pieces of oak tag.
2. Laminate the pictures or cover them with clear contact paper for durability.
3. Glue felt to the back of the pictures.
4. Discuss with the children all the animals that make their homes in trees. As you discuss each animal, place its picture on the flannel board.More to doGames: Play a classroom game called "Squirrels in a Tree." Separate the children into groups of three. Ask two children in each group to join hands to form a "tree" around the third child, who is the "squirrel." Ask a couple of other children (not in a group) to be squirrels, too. When an adult gives the signal, the squirrels change trees. The extra squirrels try to find trees too!)
