Materials
9" x 12" envelopes
questionnaires (see suggested questions below)
children's drawings
small photos of children or pictures from home
Instructions
l Use masking tape to mark off a large circle on the rug.
l Make different colors of headbands using 18" x 24" construction paper,
folding a 3" wide strip into a 1 1/2 " band. Staple to fit the average child's head.
l Make a 4" cube from a small box. Cut a square of construction paper to fit on
each side, using the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
What to Do
1. Give each child a headband (use a variety of colors). Ask the children to sit
around the edge of the circle, but not too close to one another.
2. Give one child the cube to roll and ask them all to call out the color showing
on top of the die. Choose a starting point in the circle of children, and ask the
first person wearing that color headband to sit in the circle.
3. Ask that child to roll the die again and name the color showing on top of the
die. Ask the first child wearing that color to sit in the circle.
4. Repeat until the circle is full.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Can the children name the colors of the headbands?
