2. Place camping props in the Dramatic Play Area and encourage the children to
explore, create, and pretend.

Literacy: Ask the children to dictate campfire stories. Write them down and read
them back to the children.
Music: Play campfire songs during free play. Provide a guitar, bongo drums,
individual harmonicas (found at party supply stores), and other instruments for
the campers to make music.
Science: Supply earthworms, frogs, and insects for the curious campers to
explore.
