Instructions
1. This is a great game to play when children have been sitting for a while and
they need to spend some energy. Ask the children to stand and stretch. Point
the remote toward the children, press a button and begin calling out the
following commands.
2. Say, "Play" and the children walk around the room. Say, "Fast forward" and the
children move quickly. Say, "Pause" and the children freeze in place. Say,
"Rewind" and the children walk backwards. Say, "Stop" and the game ends,
and the children go to a new activity or return to the original activity.
More to do Gross Motor: Make this game more challenging by assigning numbers to
different movements and "changing channels." Demonstrate and practice
matching the numbers and movements with the children. For example, 2:
stretch arms outward and twist from side to side; 4: hop on one foot; 6: touch
toes; 8: jumping jacks; 10: squat thrusts. Then, change the channels between
commands. For example, "Play! Channel 10! Pause! Channel 2! Channel 6!
Rewind! Channel 4! Pause! Channel 8! Stop!"
