Instructions
1. Make name necklaces for the children. Write each child's name on a strip of
paper, punch a hole in it, and insert it a piece of yarn through the hole. Tie
the ends of the yarn together to make a necklace.
2. Place the necklaces on a table or hang them from a display.
3. Greet the children as they arrive and ask them to find their name necklaces.
As each child finds her name necklace, she has an opportunity to learn name
recognition.
4. At the end of the day, the children hang up their name necklace or put them
back on the table.
More to do More Transitions: Use the name necklaces for other transitions. For example, "If
you have the letter "J' in your name, you may get up and wash your hands."
Children will look at their names for the letters you call. This is great letter
recognition practice.
