Instructions

l Assemble one box of spring items, one of summer items, and so on.
l Label the boxes by season.
What To Do
1. Talk with the children about the differences between the seasons. Explain that
each season has different weather and people do different things each season
of the year.
2. Ask the children the following questions:
l What are some things we do in the spring when it rains and flowers
bloom?
l What are some things we do in the summer when it is hot and sunny?
l What are some things we do in the fall when the leaves change?
l What are some things we do in the winter when it snows?
3. Divide the children into four groups and give each group one of the boxes.
4. Invite each group to open the boxes and explore their contents. Challenge the
children to name the objects and explore them through pretend play.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
l Consider rotating the boxes through the groups until all of the groups have
used all of the boxes.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Were the children able to identify the items in the boxes and describe the
items' uses?
l Can the children identify the seasons associated with the items?
