Instructions
1. Read the book aloud on several different occasions until the children are
familiar with it.
2. When you have a few extra moments on a rainy day, invite the children to
name items or animals and their homes.
3. Write them down on paper.
4. Help the children write a new poem, similar to the one in the book, about
the things they suggested.
An apple is a home for a worm,
A hive is a home for a bee,
A hutch is a home for a rabbit,
And a house is a house for me.
5. See how many verses you can write.
6. Make a class book with your new verses. Let the children illustrate their
ideas. Keep the book in your reading area for all to enjoy.
