* March is National Peanut Month.
1. Cut out peanut shapes, 7" long, from brown construction paper or
tagboard (one per child).
2. Let children draw two oval eyes and a simple smiling mouth at one end
of the peanut shape.
3. Help the children tape the top third of a craft stick to the back of the
peanut shape to form a peanut puppet.
4. Have children place dots of tacky glue on eye ovals and press wiggle
eyes into the glue.
5. Use the peanut puppets with the following action rhyme:
The Peanut Hop (tune: "Rockin' Robin" or "Rock Around the Clock")
Out of the ground, (jump up)
Out of the shell, (jump again)
Into my tummy, (rub tummy)
You taste so swell. (wave hands in the air)
Do the peanut hop, hop, hop. (hop three times)
Do the peanut hop, hop, hop. (hop three times)
Do the peanut hop, hop, hop. (hop three times)
And turn around. (turn around once)

he discovered for peanuts.
