Instructions

1. Locate pictures of animal families (adult male, female, and baby) in magazines or old educational catalogs. Use the pictures to construct a book for your classroom.

2. Mount the pictures on tagboard with three animals to a page.

3. Label the adult male's name, the adult female's name, and the baby's name. For example: stallion, mare, colt; bull, cow, calf; and so on.

4. Make a cover for the book with the title "Animal Families and Babies."5. Laminate the covers and pages for durability, and cut out.

6. Bind the pages between the covers using a binding machine, if available.

7. Discuss the number three with the children. Lead them into listing the animal families with father, mother, and baby names with which they are familiar.

8. Introduce the book to the class. Place it in the classroom library for reference.
