Instructions
1. This is a game that encourages accuracy of description, which is helpful for
creative writing, and an imaginative use of color, which is useful in art.
2. Ask the children to think of an animal, including what it looks like, where it
lives, what noise it makes, and if possible, what its young are called. Tell them
that all the details should be as accurate as possible, except for the animal's
color. This should be as strange as the child can make it.
3. Let each child describe his animal to the class, who guess what it is. For
example, "My animal is big and says "moo'. It lives on a farm, gives us milk, and
has babies called calves. My animal is sky blue and orange, and sometimes
has purple patches."
4. Young children will have quite a laugh over "cherry red" monkeys and
"banana yellow" pigs.
5. As a transition, have the children draw pictures of their animals before
leaving the Art Station for other activities.
