colored cardstock 3" x 5" (or a size similar to a deck of cards)markers

Instructions

1. In advance, make two sets of cards with the numerals 0 to 10 on one side. Make two more sets with dots on one side to correspond to the numbers 0 to 10.

2. Shuffle the cards together.

3. Put the deck face down in the middle of the players (two to four children).

4. The first player draws two cards, names the numerals, and counts the dots to see how many are in the set. If these two cards are a matching set, the player places the match face down in a separate area to count later.

5. If the first two draws do not make a set, the next player draws two cards.

6. After all the players have drawn their first two cards, the play continues as players draw only one card after the first round.

7. Players keep the cards in their hand on the table or on the rug in front of them.

8. By showing the cards in their "hands," the other players can help them count correctly and help them recognize a match.

9. Play continues until all the cards have been drawn.
