1. This is great to use when the children seem tired or bored. It is also great for
explaining a difficult principle, to "shake up" confused minds and tired
bodies.
2. As seriously as possible, ask the class to stand. Then, looking as though you
are debating a decision, ask them to sit.
3. Then continue by saying, "Oh, no, I really meant for you to stand!" After they
stand up, say, "Actually I think I need you to sit." Continue asking them to sit
and stand alternately until they are laughing. This will refresh their bodies
and their minds.
4. When first playing this game, the children gradually realize it is a game. Then
it becomes a joy to watch them pretending to object to you pretending to
forget. This simple brain/body exercise can brighten and enliven those
difficult times of the day. It can be as noisy or as quiet as you choose.
