Instructions

1. Send a note home asking families to collect old keys that they no longer use. Attach an envelope for them to put the keys in.

2. Place the collected keys in a coffee can. (Place some keys on the copy machine and use the copies to cover the can). As you add to the collection each day, count the number of keys and write the new amount on a Post-it note on top of the lid.

3. Ask the children to close their eyes and listen as you drop the keys into the can, counting with their eyes closed as they hear each one drop.

4. Invite the children to use the keys for counting and sorting.More to do Collect key rings and make one ring for each number.
