Materials
chalk or washable paint
Instructions
* Use chalk or paint to make a long pathway of circles (about 10" in diameter
and about 5" apart).
What to Do
1. Write "start" in the first circle and
"end" in the last. Draw numbers
inside all of the circles between,
beginning with 1 and continuing
in sequential order.
2. Ask the children to call out the
number as they step on each
circle.
3. On another day, try this activity
again but mix up the numbers.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip S
* It is helpful to have notecards handy to record any concerns,
issues, or highlights. Observe and make note of the children who are able to
recite the numbers, maintain balance as they step from circle to circle, take
turns, cooperate, and complete the activity.
* The Counting Path could become The Alphabet Path, or The Color Path.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
* Can the children count and recite the numbers?
* Can the children maintain their balance as they walk the path?
