Instructions

1. Write story starters on pieces of paper. Examples include:
* Once upon a time...
* A long time ago...
* Remember when...
* The last time I...
* In my dream...
* A scary thing happened...
* On my vacation...
* When my grandparents came...
* My favorite hero...
* When I was two....
2. Put one piece of paper in each film canister, and put all the film canisters in a
large see-through plastic container.
3. When you are waiting for everyone to gather for story time, ask one child to
pull a film canister out of the container. Remove the rolled-up paper, with the
story starter printed on it. Read the story starter, and give that child a chance
to tell a short story using the story starter.
