Instructions
1. Children love to see photos of themselves. At the beginning of the year, get a
photo album for each child. (Purchase them, make them, or ask for
donations.)
2. Write the child's name on the cover.
3. As photos are taken through the year, add them to the photo albums.
4. Encourage the children to use their photo albums to tell stories, which will
help them develop their language skills. Also, encourage them use their books
to share what happens at school with class visitors.
5. Encourage parents to send in photos of home for comfort during stressful
times. (I often see children who are feeling sad looking through their books.)
To make it easier for the parents, send home a disposable camera to get
"home shots." Send home a note asking parents to take five photos of their
family, house, pets, and so on. Put these photos in the book. Parents are
delighted to link home and school.
6. At the end of the year, each child has a great keepsake from their year in your
class.
