Instructions

Invite the children to recite the following rhyme, making the appropriate gestures when prompted.I have ten fingers as you can see. (hold up 10 fingers)Put down seven, now I have three. (put down seven, so three are left)Put up two for five on one hand. (hold up all fingers on one hand)Wave all five to make a fan. (fan face with hand)Put down three and hold up two. (make peace sign with two fingers up)Hold a peace sign for all to view. (hold hand high above head)Now show me ten for countdown fun, (hold up 10 fingers)We'll count straight down from ten to one:Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, (put down one finger at a time)And now at last we've come to...none! (put down last finger)More to do Art: Help the children trace around both of their hands (fingers spread) on a piece of paper. Ask them to dot the numbers 1 to 10 on the fingernails of the hand and write a numeral 1 to 10 on each finger. Color and decorate the hands.
